Deer Stalking

At the present time the population of wild deer in the UK is the highest for generations.

As the largest land mammal to be found here the need for management of the population has never been greater. The potential for damage to agriculture and forestry is a real concern. Of the six species present in the countryside only two are genuinely native to these shores, the red and roe. Fallow are thought to have been introduced by the Romans, and the Sika, Muntjac and Chinese water deer are all escapees from zoological collections in our very recent past.
